Solve It Challenge Award
Solve It is an initiative by the Palestinian Prime Minister's Office and UNDP/PAPP that focuses on innovation for sustainable social impact.
The Solve It platform strives to bring people together to collectively source solutions to the State of Palestine’s pressing development challenges, privileging open innovation and human-centered design. Business-as-usual approaches to development are not working. Globally and in the State of Palestine, there is a need to foster greater experimentation and adaptability to facilitate development especially amongst the most vulnerable communities. As such Solve It aims to generate new networks of community resilience through prototyping locally sourced solutions while also strengthening public engagement.
Solve It is a national initiative that offers an open communication channel between citizens and the Prime Minister’s Office. Through the developed network and knowledge of the platform, the goal of collectively tackling complex development challenges in the State of Palestine will be realized.
In the initial phase, Solve It will be linked to UNDP/PAPP’s Accelerator Lab which will support the Prime Minister’s Office in launching and managing the crowdsourcing platform. Winners of the best solutions will have access to seed funding to test their solutions, mentoring and guidance to further develop and incubate their ideas. The Prime Minister’s Office will drive the selection for the challenges that will be rolled out, which are closely linked to the sustainable development goals and national priorities.
